This year I’m setting myself a little bit of a challenge. You see I’ve been bitten by the dressmaking/sewing bug and I thought it would be fun to try to sew a summer wardrobe for Bubs. I’m envisioning lots of floaty summer dresses, smart shorts and lightweight trousers. Nothing fussy or complicated as I am very much a beginner.
I thought I’d share a few of my pattern picks with you today.
Oliver & S – Roller Skate Dress
If you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen that I recently made a Roller Skate Dress for Bubs’ 5th birthday (in-depth post coming soon). I’m planning on making another dress and a tunic top from this pattern as it was so easy to put together.
I initially bought this pattern for the pretty flutter sleeved top but I love the dress and trousers too. I think you could have lots of fun mixing and matching fabrics with this one.
I’m not overly fond of the applique designs on these dresses as I think they’re a bit fussy but the basic dress styles are great. There are a lot of different options, including shoulder ties which I really want to try out.
MADE Everyday shorts
Now I know that British summers tend to be on the wet and dismal side but I am keeping everything crossed for a few sunny days because I really want to make a pair of these shorts! I love the flat fronted pair with the accent buttons and they look like they’d be a great stashbuster as they don’t require a lot of fabric.
With Summer only a few months away I’d better crack on and get sewing. If you want to keep up with my progress then do follow me on Instagram and if you’d like to see more of my Summer pattern picks then follow my Pinterest board.
