Another week of Project Life completed in my 2016 album. I’m really enjoying the new Design K format and I’m glad I decided to keep to one page per week as it doesn’t take long to finish a spread. Week 2 took only half an hour to make as I’d sorted through my embellishments and papers beforehand and pulled out any that I thought would work.
My lovely new typewriter arrived last Thursday (7th) so it’s the focus of the spread. I spent the weekend cleaning her up and fixing a seemingly endless list of problems but thankfully she’s in fully working order now. As I mentioned in my journalling I just need to learn how to type without hitting the wrong keys!
For my first filler card I took a sheet of the Darling paper from the Maggie Holmes Shine 6×6 paper pad and cut it down to 4×4. I created a cluster in the bottom left with a snippit of doily (The Works), stickers from the Shine sticker sheet and two tiny word stickers (Tim Holtz). Lastly I popped a floral diecut (Kaisercraft Bluebelle) in the centre of the card.
For this card I cut down the 004 paper from Seven Paper Goldie to 3×4 and smooshed some navy Heidi Swapp Color Shine onto it using crumpled cling film. I used the typewriter and a phrase sticker from the Shine sticker sheet along with a glitter heart. The colours tie in nicely with the floral diecut in the first card.
For the journalling card I cut down a sheet of white cardstock to 4×4 and layered a strip of the Radiant paper (MH Shine) across the top. I then typed up my journalling and finished with the dates using the Project Life roller date stamp and some Staz-On ink.
If you’d like to see how it all came together there’s a process video up on my YouTube channel.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to comment here on my blog and on my videos. I’m hoping to catch up on my replies and comments this weekend. I’ve had a really difficult week, what with health issues and a grumpy preschooler, which will undoubtedly make for an interesting spread for Week 3 of Project Life!

I am really liking your page , so jealous of the typewriter , brings back some memories. I hope they have recovered after the power cut. I love candle light !
Absolutely gorgeous Vickie. Your photography is just beautiful on this layout and I really enjoyed your ‘real’ typewritten journaling mistakes and all. I’m going to seriously look forward to seeing this every week. Xx
Oh, I love typewriters – looking at them and the results they create more than actually using them though!
Last time I used one was when I still lived in the US and had to fill out some government forms with carbon paper – so no mistakes were allowed! I think I had about five to do and it took me at least 20 attempts. You don’t realise how important that backspace key is until you can’t use it anymore!!!
Those layouts are all lovely. 🙂
