The New Year heralded a new approach to my Project Life memory keeping. Having looked at my unfinished 2015 album I had a serious think about what I would and wouldn’t be doing this year. Journaling in particular was a big sticking point. Project Life without journaling is just a glorified photo album but when, like me, you find journaling doesn’t come easy it can mean that you quickly run out of enthusiasm. Which is exactly what happened to me last year.
And so I decided that this year I would do two things to help me keep on top of the onerous (to me) task of journaling each week. Firstly I’ve bought myself a vintage typewriter (more on that in another post) in hopes that the novelty of typing instead of writing might get those creative juices flowing and secondly I’m going to be realistic and on the weeks where I either can’t face journaling or I don’t have the time then I’m just not going to bother.
I was intending to switch to the 9″x12″ format this year but I take a LOT of photos and I knew that I’d find the smaller format too restrictive. So I’m sticking with the 12″x12″ I used last year and using Design K page protectors which have six 4″x4″ slots (perfect for Instagram photos) and four 3″x4″ slots.

I decided to start Week 1 on the 1st rather than on the actual Monday which was the 28th of December. I’ll catch up with the start of the week when I come to do December in my 2015 album. I wasn’t short of photos for the three days though as I always take too many photos and have a job whittling them down.
We had quite a relaxed start to the year. My dad came up for a visit which is always fun, especially now that Bubs isn’t as shy around him as she used to be. He brought up his old film camera for me to have a play as I’m developing (pardon the pun) an interest in film photography. I also started a new crochet blanket (the Attic 24 Sunny Granny Stripe Blanket) and I thought it would be fun to follow its progress in the album every month.
Aside from that we just pootled about. Bubs played with her new toys while the grown-ups breathed a huge sigh of relief that Christmas was all over for another year.
