Around here it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The trees (we have three) went up on the 6th and every day since we’ve been adding festive touches to each room. There are lights draped over anything that stands still long enough and garlands swathed up the staircase. Even the downstairs loo is in on the festive fun! We have three dogs so all of our trees and garlands are of the fake variety lest any stray needles end up in a pooch’s paw. But we don’t mind. It looks just as Christmassy as it would if they were real.
This year I went all out in the front room (aka the play room) and festooned it with paper chains and paper stars (following Julia’s fab tutorial). They’re so easy to make and a little bit addictive. I used up lots of scraps of red and gold craft paper but you could use leftover wrapping paper. Oh and if you use 12″x12″ scrapbook paper the resulting stars are very large indeed!
I am almost up to date with my gift wrapping. I’ve been doing a little bit every evening or so. I like to make my wrapping a little bit special with lots of ribbons and bows, it’s one of my favourite parts of the season, but boy is it time-consuming. Hubs gets his gifts wrapped when he buys them, the cheater!
Hubs is off work now until the New Year and I have to admit I’m enjoying having an extra pair of hands around. This morning I managed to shower and style my hair. Luxury! I’m hoping to snag a bit of time for filming too as I’ve not updated my YouTube channel in over a week.
I cannot wait until the big day. My family are already taking bets on whether I end up waking Bubs up at 2am because I’m too excited to sleep. But first there’s the small matter of a gingerbread house to make and a Christmas cake to decorate. My little helper has decided we’re going to use purple icing but I think she’s in for a bit of disappointment. Wish me luck!
