I don’t know whether to call it down time or me time or what but I’m going to be taking a little break from the Internet.
Blogging has been taking up all of my free time lately, which is during Bubs’ afternoon nap and in the evenings after she’s gone to bed, but the result of that is other things have fallen by the wayside. Not just the boring stuff like washing & ironing but the fun stuff too. I haven’t picked up my knitting needles in months!
Don’t get me wrong I still enjoy blogging it’s just not as much fun as it used to be. I think I’ve become bogged down in trying to “grow” my blog, whether that be through linking it to other social media platforms or trying to come up with new and exciting ideas for posts, in hopes that it will bring in more readers.
A few evenings ago I had a bit of an epiphany (after my third evening of wrestling with Google+) when I realised that it’s all suddenly became quite stressful. More like a job and less like a hobby and actually I don’t want to grow my blog. Besides, I don’t think you can do that without commercialising it and I am a staunch believer in ad free blogging.
I want to feel excited by the idea of writing rather than stressed so, me and my blog are having a trial separation while I go away and catch up on life. I want to play with my daughter in the garden, take photos for fun not just for the blog and I have a long list of crafting projects that I want to start.
I may be gone a fortnight or a month, I don’t know. It’ll be however long it takes for me to rediscover the fun of blogging.
