Yesterday I collected my new contact lenses and it’s fair to say my world has been totally rocked. That might seem like a bit of a dramatic statement but it really has been like that for me.
I’ve never seen my face without glasses on it other than in photos. My eyesight is sufficiently poor that when I take my glasses off I can’t see beyond a few inches and when I would look in a mirror all I could see was a small fuzzy blob. Magnifying mirrors only compound the problem and present me with a gigantic fuzzy blob. Now I can see every pore (lots), every wrinkle (thankfully not many) and just how bad the dark circles under my eyes actually are!
I’ve never minded wearing glasses, although I did go through a phase in my teens where I would always take them off for photos, they’ve been my constant companions for the last 36 years and are a big part of who I am. The new me is going to take a bit of getting used to.
There are a few makeup skills that I’m going to have to learn too. I’ve never worn eyeliner or more than one shade of eyeshadow at a time (despite owning half a dozen palettes) because I couldn’t see well enough to draw/blend and I’ve never bothered with my eyebrows as they’ve always been mostly hidden by the frame of my glasses.
Do you have a favourite online tutorial for applying eyeliner or eyeshadow? If so please share as I need all of the help I can get!
