I used to be a regular customer of Glossybox but I let my subscription lapse after a run of truly rubbish boxes. The company seems to have had a bit of a reboot recently and I’d read some glowing reviews online so I re-subscribed. It’s been two months now and so far I’ve not been disappointed.
If you’re new to Glossybox it’s a box containing 5 beauty samples that is delivered to your door for £13.25 per month. For me it’s a chance to try out some mid to high-end brands before deciding whether to splash Hubs’ cash on the full size product. I’ve found a few holy grail products through beauty boxes. There are loads of different subscription boxes out there so there’s bound to be one that appeals to you. Which Beauty Box UK is a great site that reviews beauty boxes and is a mine of information.
So what did I get in this month’s box?
Created exclusively for Glossybox this is a glossy cream highlighter. I always forget to use highlighter when I’m putting on makeup so this will probably end up languishing in my makeup drawer with my other highlighters.
Lalique L’Amour perfume sample
Perfume samples seem to be the Marmite product of beauty boxes. You either love them or hate them. Personally I love receiving perfume samples as I rarely get to shop for perfume these days because Bubs gets a bit grabby when presented with a row of pretty glass bottles. L’Amour is supposed to have top notes of rosebuds with bergamot, florals and white musk as a base note. I love all of those in a perfume so I’m looking forward to trying this.
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer
A pre-shampoo treatment that is supposed to restore elasticity to dry and brittle hair. I received a sample of this in the January Birchbox and didn’t get on with it at all. After reading the card that comes in the Glossybox I’m wondering whether I wasn’t using it properly as it says to shampoo twice if you have fine hair, which I do, so I’m going to give it another go.
Figs & Rouge hand cream in Rose Berry
I have really dry hands and cracked cuticles so I always have hand cream nearby. My bedside table has five different tubes of hand cream on it, such is my obsession. This one will be joining my stash.
PEP Cosmeceuticals SkinPep Super C15 Serum
While I have the cleanse, tone and moisturise parts of my skin care routine down to a few tried and trusted products I still haven’t found a serum that ticks all of my combination/dry skin boxes. SkinPep contains vitamin C and hyaluronic acid which supposedly gives UV protection and stimulates collagen production. A lot of serums seem to be all talk and no substance so I remain unconvinced until I’ve had a chance to try it.
Yves Rocher nail varnish in Pink
This is a bonus product which has been included to celebrate the 3rd birthday of Glossybox.
My nails are in a shocking state at the moment. I’m a relapsed nail biter so my once long and lovely nails are now mangled stumps so nail varnish is a little lost on me. This looks to be a very pretty colour though and will likely get used on my toenails instead.
On first impressions this looks to be another great offering from Glossybox. There’s a good mix of products included and the sample sizes are pretty decent. I’ll post a review of everything I received in a week or two after I’ve given everything a thorough test.
