If you’re as crackers about Christmas as I am chances are you’ve already decorated your Christmas tree and festooned it and the rest of the house with hundreds of twinkling lights. Which is why today I thought I’d share a couple of my favourite effects for photographing Christmas lights that really bring out the sparkle and fun of the festive season.
If you’re of a certain age (i.e. around 40) then chances are you had one of those giant plastic Santa sacks for Christmas when you were little. Mine was white and neon yellow with a scary looking Santa face on the front. Let’s face it they were essentially a jazzed up bin bag which lasted only a few Christmases before it started to disintegrate in the way that plastic bags are wont to do.
Fast forward a few (far too many!) years and those plastic sacks are very much a thing of the past. These days Christmas isn’t Christmas without a hand stencilled or personalised fabric Santa sack. While I really like the look of them I’m not so keen on the hefty price tag so I decided to have a go at making my own.
I’m over on the like for ever blog today as part of their Subscriber Spotlight series. Do pop over and have a read and don’t forget to keep checking back as I’ll be sharing three festive projects over the coming weeks.
I’m in the process of making some front of house and behind the scenes changes to my little slice of the Internet. Things might look and behave a little oddly for the next month or so, at least until I’ve ironed out the creases.
There’s going to be a content change too. I’m going to phase out the parenting and life posts and share very little about Bubs from now on. She’s started infant school and whilst her name isn’t implicitly linked to this blog there’s always the chance that my ramblings will pop up on a Google search or that one of the other mums will find out about it. I’ve always said that I’d stop sharing the details of her life here if there was a risk of her being embarrassed by something I’ve written. It feels like the right time to stop.
Well what a damp and drizzly week it’s been! Today has dawned sunny, if cold, and I’m hoping it’ll stay that way for the weekend as there are two dozen tulip and narcissus bulbs waiting to be planted up at Plot 15.
On with this weeks Little Loves.
Today I turn 42.
42, if you’re a Douglas Adams fan, is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. And you know what, I think he’s right.
